This is a Technical (IT) Instructions topic

Pre-requisites

  • AquilaServer version 1.0 or 1.1 must be installed and working correctly. This should not be uninstalled.
  • Ensure that all client users are on desktop version 1.2. See IBID Version 1.2 FAQ for details.

Overview

  • The upgrade will take between 15 - 120 minutes depending on the size of your iBID database.
  • Replacing the necessary files only takes 10-20 seconds, during which time the application will be unavailable.
  • The upgrade re-calculates all the analysis data in the database in order to implement new and changed formulae.

Instructions

  • Backup the IBID database to provide fall-back in the event of a failure.
  • Download the "iBID Server v1.2 Upgrade (32-bit)" (filename aquilaserver_upgrade32.exe) from ibidb.org.
  • On the machine where AquilaServer is currently installed, run the aquilaserver_upgrade32.exe
  • Follow on-screen instructions. You will see:
    • a console window appear immediately before copying files - this is the stopping of the AquilaServer service
    • a console window appear immediately after copying files -- this is the restarting of the AquilaServer service (after which the application is available for use)
    • a final console window will appear that makes any necessary metadata changes to the database & recalculates the iBID analysis data
  • Grant user permissions as required, see Managing Users#User Permissions for info on permissions.
