What's New
The new version does not change the basic operation of the software. All changes are internal. For an overview please see AquilaCRS Whats New. For detailed information please see the change log.
Pre-requisites
AquilaServer version 1.0 must be installed and working correctly. This doesn't need uninstalling.
Prior to running the upgrade
- The AquilaServer will be unavailable for 10-20 seconds during the upgrade whilst files are replaced.
- The setup stops the AquilaServer immediately before copying files and restarts it immediately afterwards.
- You may wish to inform users of the upgrade and arrange a small downtime.
- The upgrade will automatically launch a process to re-calculate analysis data in the database in order to add more analysis data to existing records.
- The application is available for use whilst this process is running.
- Users might experience slight performance degradation depending on other infrastructure conditions.
Instructions
- Download the "iBID Server v1.1 Upgrade from v1.0 (32-bit)" (filename aquilaserver_upgrade32.exe) from ibidb.org.
- On the application server machine, run the aquilaserver_upgrade32.exe
- Follow on-screen instructions. You will see:
- a console window appear immediately before copying files - this is the stopping of the AquilaServer service
- a console window appear immediately after copying files -- this is the restarting of the AquilaServer service
- after this the application is available for use again
- a final console window will appear that
- makes any necessary metadata changes to the database
- recalculates the iBID analysis data
- the application is available for use during this process
