Algorithm Settings

Source Patient Quality

This is a slider with two slider positions.

Position 1: controls the minimum quality level of the Telemarque demographics required to import the data into AquilaCRS.   The lower this is set, the lower the quality of the imported data.

Position 2:  controls the minimum quality level of the Telemarque demographics required to attempt to match the TM demographics with the AquilaCRS demographics records.

Splitting these two allows for low-quality TM records to be imported, but without attempting to match due to missing data.

NB All TM demographics that have images, will be imported regardless of the first slider setting.

Min Required Score

As each TM record is compared against the AquilaCRS record, it is given a score based on various factors.

This slider determines the score at which the app considers the match sufficient to be the same patient & will therefore merge the TM demographics into the AquilaCRS demographics

Individual Confidence Scores

When the demographics records from the two systems are compared, any matching values are given the score indicated by the slider for each field in the list of sliders.

Optionally, the algorithm score can be penalised by a percentage of this score if any data is found to not match.  See the Algorithm Options.

Algorithm Options

Include Phonetic Names

Selecting this option will include phonetic matches on the names using the SoundEx algorithm.  Not recommended as the matches will generally be too innacurate.

Default: OFF

Allow Name Variants

Selecting this option will allow the algorithm to use common given name abbreviations and alternatives.  I.e. Tim vs Timmy, Timothy, and Gill vs Gillian, Gilly, Jill and Jilly.     This provides a greater level of potential matches in cases where shortened and alternate spellings are used in either dataset.

Default: ON

Fuzzy Match Text & DoB

This option allows a maximum of 1 on the Levenshtein Distance algorithm when comparing all text based fields in the demographics record.   Setting this option allows for slight spelling mistakes to be accepted.

It also allows the year element of the birth date to be one year either side, in case of data entry errors.   The day/month must match exactly.  Only a percentage of the DoB individual is given in this case.

Default : ON

Use Extended Address

This allows the Street and Town fields to be compared in the algorithm.  These fields are still affected by the Fuzzy Match option.

Default: ON

Penalise Contradictions

This option ensures that the algorithm score is penalised by a percentage of the individual confidence score in cases where the data doesn't match.   This allows the algo score to go down as well as up.

Default:  ON

Image Transformation

Resize Large Images

This specifies the maximum size, in mega-pixels (resolution) of the images stored in the AquilaCRS database.   Any images that are imported from Telemarque that exceed this size, are resampled down to this size before storage.   The resampling algorithm is Lanczos version 3.

The layout (portrait vs landscape) and the aspect ratio are all maintained.   The images are saved using very low JPEG compression.

Default:  6mp (3032 x 2008 pixels)

Sharpen After Resample

Images that exceed the maximum mega pixel size are resampled using the Lanczos3 algorithm.  This option allows for a small amount of sharpening to occur after the resample to maintain clarity.
